By the Direct Kinect Team. Updated October 2026.
Short answer: A master dealer is a company that holds the relationships with internet providers and builds teams to sell their fiber offers door to door. For a team owner or crew lead, working with one means selling offers from multiple ISPs through a single relationship instead of managing each provider separately. Direct Kinect is a master dealer and nationwide door knocking network, and it takes applications from dealers, team owners and crew leads. Pay and terms depend on the ISP, market and team, and earnings are not guaranteed. Apply as a dealer.

What is a master dealer in fiber sales?
In general terms, a dealer is a sales partner that sells a provider’s services on the provider’s behalf. A master dealer sits one level up. It holds the provider relationships, then builds and supports the teams that sell those offers in the field.
Direct Kinect describes itself the same way: a master dealer selling fiber internet door to door for multiple ISPs, with a nationwide network of reps and teams and local teams in Utah, Arizona, Texas, South Carolina and Alabama. Direct Kinect is not an ISP. The internet service itself comes from the providers whose offers the teams present.

Why would a team owner work with a master dealer instead of going direct?
Every team owner weighs the same tradeoff: independence against infrastructure. Going direct with a single provider is one option. A master dealer relationship changes the math in a few general ways:
- One relationship, multiple ISPs. Instead of managing each provider on your own, you work through one dealer that sells for several. Direct Kinect’s current ISP partners are Kinetic by Windstream, Metronet, Sparklight, Xfinity, TDS, Ripple, Brightspeed, Point and ClearWave. Availability depends on the market.
- Room to move with the work. Fiber is being built in different places at different times. A team that can follow active markets has more options than a team tied to one town.
- Support behind the crew. The Direct Kinect technology page describes proprietary software, follow up automation and KPI tracking meant to help more sales get installed. Installs are not guaranteed, since they depend on the customer, the ISP and the market.
None of that replaces your own leadership. It is the setup around it.
Who can apply as a dealer, team owner or crew lead?
The Direct Kinect dealers page says it welcomes:
- Dealers and team owners who already run reps.
- Crew leads who are ready to lead their own team in a market.
- Builders who want to recruit and lead reps and start a team.
- Teams that want to relocate to an active fiber market, for a season or in short pushes.
The application asks about your role, your current rep count, the ISPs you currently sell, your door to door experience, your target cities or states, your timing, and how you recruit and train reps. It takes about three minutes. Be ready to describe your team accurately. Applying does not mean an offer, and a member of the team replies to talk through details.
What does the dealer process look like?
The process is four steps:
- Apply. Describe your team and your target area.
- Talk. Review ISPs, markets and terms with the Direct Kinect team.
- Set up. If it is a fit, the team is prepared for the field.
- Start selling. The team works its market.
Teams can run in the same three models Direct Kinect uses for reps: Local, Summer and Blitz. Read about each on the teams page. A Local model stays near home, a Summer model travels for a season, and a Blitz model deploys to active markets 7 to 14 days a month, then returns home.
What should you ask any master dealer before you sign on?
This list is general advice, not a rule from any one company, and it works for Direct Kinect or anyone else. Ask these questions out loud:
- Which ISPs and which markets are actually open right now, and how often does that change?
- How are pay and terms structured, and how do they differ by ISP, market and team?
- When is a sale counted, at signup or after install? Many fiber programs count a sale once service is installed.
- How do chargebacks work when a customer cancels soon after signing up?
- How are you and your reps classified, and who handles taxes and paperwork?
- What training and coaching will your leads and reps get, and who delivers it?
- What happens when a market slows down?
Direct Kinect says pay and terms depend on the ISP, market and team and are discussed in the conversation after you apply. Earnings are not guaranteed, and a good partner will welcome every question above.
How do you recruit and build a door to door team that lasts?
A master dealer gives you the setup, but the team is still yours to build. Direct Kinect’s training page lists what it covers for team leaders, dealers and team owners: recruiting reps, onboarding and coaching them, running a daily plan, tracking results and moving deals to install. Those five jobs are a good frame for any team, anywhere:
- Recruit for habits, not just charisma. Coachable, consistent and honest reps stay longer than flashy ones.
- Onboard the same way every time. New reps learn faster when day one looks like day one for everyone.
- Run a daily plan. Know where the team is working and when.
- Track the numbers that matter. Watch results by rep so you know who needs help.
- Chase the install. A signup is not a finished job until service is installed.
If you recruit reps who want to grow, they can build toward leadership on their own team. The leadership and ownership page describes the path from rep to team leader.
Is the fiber market big enough to build a team around?
The numbers say there is a lot of fiber being built. The Fiber Broadband Association reported on December 16, 2025 that 11.8 million U.S. homes were passed by fiber in 2025, an all time high, and that fiber passes over 60% of U.S. households. It counts 98.3 million total fiber passings and says about 60 million first time passings remain. Average take rate on primary passings was 46.5%.
Those are industry figures, not a forecast for your market or a promise about any team’s results. They do suggest the work of explaining fiber to households is not going away soon, and that teams who can move to active markets have options.
